Lake City is home to this small-town, East Texas couple, escaping the summer heat for some mountain air and freshwater fishing. Lake City is truly a hidden gem! The Sportsman has been open and operating since 1955. It is rich in history and holds the original feel of old-time fly fishing with growing trends in the fly fishing industry. Lake City is located in the San Juan Mountains of Southwestern Colorado, about 55 miles south of Gunnison on State Highway 149, and 74 miles north of South Fork.

The Gunnison-Crested Butte Regional Airport (GUC) has daily flights all year on United Airlines.

Hey y'all! Bria and Jason here all the way from East, TX!

 

 Lake City has been Jason's vacation spot since he was little boy and he knows the town well. With owning multiple business in Texas, Jason is savvy in the business world and excited to use his skills to bring some youth to the fly fishing industry! Jason introduced Bria to fly fishing and the rest is history. Bria was a flight attendant for a major US airline and enjoyed traveling the world. She's hung up her wings and brought out the fishing rod to run their dream business here in the beautiful State of Colorado for the summers. We are SO excited to start this new adventure with everyone here in Lake City, CO.

Captain Gus

My name is Gus (short for Augustus)!

 

I’m the store mascot and official greeter. I’m a 8 year old Brittany Spaniel and I came here all the way from East Texas. You can find me sniffing our customers, snacking, and sunbathing in the store windows. I take my responsibilities very seriously and guarantee to greet you every time, unless the snacking or sunbathing is too good. Outside of work, I enjoy hanging my head out the Bronco window, fishing, chasing rabbits, and receiving belly rubs.
